The Nidderdale Messiah has been running for over 20 years. Singers can sign up to sing the Messiah the whole way through, usually in November each year at Holy Trinity Church in Knaresborough. Singers pay a fee to take part, and the proceeds of ticket sales, both from singers and audience members, form a fund which the Nidd Messiah donates to a local Nidderdale project each year.
This year, for the first time, the Nidderdale Messiah has asked Nidd Plus to find projects serving people who live in Nidderdale that their Committee can consider as the grant recipient. The amount of money raised can be as much as £5,000, and gift aid can amplify the amount to around £6,000.
There are some conditions. The nominated charity/group must be able to supply volunteers to help on the day the Messiah takes place, and must be able to operate an online payment system (eg Square, Paypal, etc) to be able to sell raffle tickets on the day, the money from which is added to the funding pot.
If you would like to have your project considered, please get in touch with Helen Flynn at helen@nidderdaleplus.org.uk, and she can talk you through the application process. The committee meets in late August, so we need to have all nominations in by 16th August at the latest!
