You will hopefully be aware of the grant scheme that Nidd Plus operates from the proceeds of the sales at Nidderdale Charity Shop on Pateley High Street- (but if you are not aware, read more about it here). But there is also a local fund operated year-round on a rolling basis by North Yorkshire Council for grants of up to £1,000, called the Inspire Fund.

The Inspire Fund supports local social action. It encourages people to get involved in their local community by offering small grants to help establish new services, events or activities that:

  • increase social interaction
  • encourage neighbourliness
  • improve the wellbeing of individuals and communities
  • supports communities to become more resilient and able to respond to local challenges

The grant may be used to:

  • fund events or activities
  • help with start-up costs for new projects or services
  • purchase small items of equipment

To meet the criteria you will be:

  • a not-for-profit group or organisation
  • based in North Yorkshire and/or the project will be delivered in North Yorkshire
  • encouraging people to be involved in the local community
  • demonstrating a positive contribution to at least one of these outcomes:
    • prevention and reducing health inequalities
    • community resilience
    • social regeneration

Grants of up to £1,000 will be made as a one-off contribution to the cost of an eligible project. Applications should demonstrate the project can be delivered without needing future support from this fund. If you need any help, contact Helen Flynn at helen@nidderdaleplus.org.uk, who can talk you through the process and what is involved. Or to apply for a grant, go to https://nyc.flexigrant.com/
