Nidderdale Plus has been working with the NHS to spread the word about the importance of medical research and how you can get involved over the past few months.
We have been working with a team of community champions across Nidderdale who have been giving their time to talk to local residents about the importance of medical research and carrying out a short survey with them.
One of the things we are asking local people to consider is to sign up to the Be part of research website that is run by the NHS. If you sign up, you will receive notifications of when there are research projects running nearby that you can join.
On the site there is a very powerful story about a lady who joined a clinical trial after losing her mother to heart disease. She took part in a clinical trial for cardiovascular disease to help others and protect her own health. You can read her full story here.
If you have the time, do watch this short YouTube video about the importance of medical research and the way it can transform people’s lives: Reunited by Research: how research trials make a difference to people’s lives
If you would like to fill out our survey, you can access it here.
