Friends Against Scams aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering people to take a stand against scams. Here at Nidderdale Plus we are increasingly hearing from residents who have been the targets of scams.
By completing an online scams awareness session, anyone can learn about the different types of scams and how to spot and support a victim. There are two versions of the online awareness session that you can choose from.You can either watch a short video (8 minutes) narrated by a member of the Scams team, or complete the original interactive session (about 20 minutes). Both of these videos are at the link given above. So it does not take long to arm yourself with greater awareness of scams.
With increased knowledge and awareness, people can make scams part of everyday conversation with their family, friends and neighbours, which will enable them to protect themselves and loved ones.
Once you’ve completed the session, you become a Friend who can turn the knowledge into action – spread the word, protect others and take a stand against scams!
